Health And Wellbeing With Chiropractic

The word “chiropractic” actually comes from two Greek words: cheir, which means hand, and praxis, which means action. What the word “chiropractic” means, then, is “done by hand.”

But what does it really do — what could it really do for you?

While it sounds like this branch of healthcare seems pretty basic, if you just go by what the word translates to, there is nothing basic at all from what chiropractic can do for your health and wellbeing.

Its primary focus of care may be the spine and, essentially, the framework of the body, but it is considered to be a complete system of healthcare. Its aim is not only to treat whatever aches and pains you may have; chiropractic care focuses on restoring, preserving, and ultimately optimising your overall health.

The goal of chiropractic

In addition to following such a holistic approach to your healthcare, a chiropractor’s goal is also to deliver treatments without using invasive procedures and prescription drugs.

The fundamental philosophy of chiropractic is that the body naturally looks for proper balance in all of its systems, and these systems — most notably the nervous system, which coordinates function throughout your body — are designed to work together.

When one system isn’t “structurally sound,” which could be brought on by work-related stress or by injury, then it will not function properly.

When your lung tissue is damaged, you might not breathe properly. When your muscles tighten, mobility might be limited. When your spine is misaligned, spinal nerves may be irritated and the tissues they network with may be adversely affected.

The concept of proper structure, proper function applies to your entire body — and this is what chiropractic aims to restore, improve, and correct. Without surgery, without pharmacology.

Dr Gus Gunther

Dr. Gus Gunther, an Epping chiropractor who has been in practice for 26 years, knows the benefits of hands-on attention to the spine for many patients. Dr. Gunther treats patients with balance disorders like vertigo; he works on patients with carpal tunnel syndrome, back pains, neck pain, hip, knee, and foot pain, migraine, sciatica, sports injuries, and other pain conditions.

Dr. Gunther performs a detailed assessment of every patient before coming up with the proper course of treatment. Some patients may need spinal adjustments with special attention to diet and exercise, while others may need electric muscle stimulation with hot and cold pads for at-home treatment.

With each carefully performed assessment, chiropractors like Dr. Gunther are able to provide a holistic and natural approach to healthcare and ensure that future injuries or diseases are prevented. And that patients, like you, achieve optimal health and wellbeing.
